Flash Fiction #Bath

The muffled sound of the evening city subsides behind the steamed glass window. Elongated shadows from flickered flames bounce in rhythm of the murmur of the outside world. Pulsating heat sends my blood pumping upward and my heart pounding in my ears, yet my mind peacefully drifting as I hypnotically watch the candle flames jump from side to side, catching sight of the billows of steam. My pink flesh is soft and wrinkling, feeling neither wet or dry. My eyelids are heavy and my body suspended yet partially submerged. Tranquility.
The steam begins to cease and flicker of the flames become more vigorous, I gently sit and allow the water to disperse. Again, I lie back down, partially submerged, heart beating in my ears, and the water slowly caressing my skin from my thighs to my toes; taunting coolness brushes against me. The day’s haste dissipated and drained downwards, energising my mind, body and soul.
